Management Information Systems

The Management Information Systems (MIS) team provide support to Kirklees primary and middle schools in using the MIS software. As school budget allocations and DfE statistics are calculated from the MIS Census returns, it is important that school staff are comfortable in using the MIS software.

Through our ongoing support and training, over 50% of our schools are now marking registers directly into the system, saving duplication of work caused by having a paper register. Assessment is also entered in the same way by teachers, as is behaviour by support staff working in the classroom. The rollout of the new Reporting to Parents module started recently and many schools are already finding this to be an effective and efficient way of producing information for parents.

The web based Integris G2 system used also allows secure access for staff from home. In addition, the MIS team are able to support teachers and support staff who may be working during school holidays.

The support offered to our schools includes:

  • Helpdesk support from a team with MIS expertise
  • Help and support with financial returns to LA
  • Consultancies
  • Training Courses
  • User Groups
  • A Service Level Agreement (SLA ) for MIS Support to cover the cost of the licences and
MIS support for primary and middle schools will be through a Service Level Agreement (SLA) which caters for the requirements of each individual school. The basic SLA would include:

    • licence costs
    • Helpdesk support
    • staff attendance at MIS User Groups to ensure the system is correctly maintained to DfE and LA specification.

The MIS team can also provide training courses or consultancies to ensure that schools and individual users stay fully conversant with the system.

Note for secondary schools
Currently, the MIS team do not provide support for the SMIS used in our secondary schools which is provided by Capita. Due to enquiries from our secondary schools, we are looking at how we can move to provide this support and will be discussing the options with our Secondary headteachers and Bursars over the next few months.
